Little updates here and there

Warning: below contains random thoughts/comments of mine which have gone through absolutely no form of organisation. Please do not proceed further if you had enough of my disorganised content.

Movie Review: Eragon
Verdict: Shall not watch the other 2 parts of this trilogy if possible (in cinema that is.)
Comments: Being a fantasy based movie, one would inevitably compare with movies like LOTR for eg. And truly, Eragon has not reached the quality of LOTR films. Eragon just didnt have that feel. Like what they said in the movie, I was “expecting something more… … … more…”.

Game progress update: Time Crisis 4 Stage 3 Area 2 (improved by 1 area.)
Comments: nothing to be proud of really, since i still cant complete it. But at least i’m making some progress. Heh. Hope to complete the game someday, and hopefully master decently like what i used to do for TC3 (hey, my link play score with clarence still stands at 4th and 5th after a few years! Dhoby Zone-X machine that is.)

Video status: No physical progress since last weekend.
Comments: Though i haven’t gone to touch the editing part, at least i learnt something new. At least now i’ll be able to encode in x264, but i still need to experiment a little to find a bitrate that wont compromise too much on video/audio quality while keeping the filesize rather friendly so that AC server doesnt go bust, nor put users off cos it’s too huge to download.
Verdict on x264 encoding: definitely better than divx. somewhat bigger than wmv format, but it’s much clearer in terms of video quality.
To-do: Understand more on what the heck is multi-pass and how it works, since it seems to be better than single pass (which i think is what i’m going to use this time round.)
Special thanks: Posix for his 60fps capturing technique. Robot-Hero for his technical help on encoding in x264. Not that anyone who reads this would have any idea who both of them are anyway.

Things I might want to get in the near future: a new mouse, and maybe a new hp
Comments: my current mouse has a tendency to double/triple/quad/5(rarely/dunno the word, lazy to find out) on the left click and double on the right. maybe it’s due to too much minesweeper, but if that’s the case, the right click should suffer more so i have no exact idea why the left click is much worse off. As for the hp, i might just get a camera hp (for the 1st time). That would be my 4th hp. First was some really old school ericsson phone (yeah now sony-ericsson but it’s old school). 2nd was 3310, current one is 6610. Shall really take a good look at the new mobiles (no not GunBound) that are offered now to see if any interests me. If you all got any recommendations (dont gimme those bloody exp phones), feel free to drop me a msg on MSN.

So much for little updates huh.

edit: i.ph’s timing seems to be screwed up again. so dont go thinking i’m posting this at 4am+ i’m not so siao yet. lol. anyway, off to sleep now.
