ScarWyu’s 3rd

November 2, 2006

heh. Another entry today, with another video up for recommendation. Been too lazy to update recently so now update all at once =D

For those who dont know, ScarWyu’s editing is simple yet clean. Combos wise, some interesting ideas/bugs here and there, which his past 2 works had brought about some “research” craze. It’s people like him who are able to continue to find new elements in game(s) that have been around for so long. Amazing isn’t it =D

This is a short clip (3m48s) and 43mb in size. Requires Real Player (as usual from Chinese combo makers). Link here.

For more details on his combos and preview pics, please see his blog here. Knowledge of chinese required. As for the numbers used in the transcript of the combos, please refer to ur numpad (too bad if u r using a laptop, pls go visualise in ur head =P)

Another of sry_jacky’s work. Needless to say, the editing is superb as usual and he has new and nice combos too! What a package! This video made me want to see Part 2 so much! haha. Go watch if you feel like it.

Death Note Craze

Finally, after so long, I’ve watched Death Note (live-action) Part 1 in cinema today. Yeah sg is so wols (and I’m wols also) that Part 2 of the Movie - The Last Name premieres in Japan TOMORROW. heh. SG will only show it like 28 Dec. ok lah, better compared to Part 1 le (Japan’s premiere was JUNE 17).

Now now, as many manga/anime, or even game to live-action productions, it usually will suck. For this movie, i think it’s actually quite decent, if u’re comparing to the likes of Initial D live-action. Though quite a number of areas were changed, I think it’s more for the purpose of showing to people who havent read the manga (actually me included) nor watched the anime (esp when they premiered in Japan the anime hasn’t started yet.) However, it seems that as the movie progressed, more things were different from the manga (anime only 5 eps so far so can’t really compare but i assume anime will follow closely to manga), even major events that will affect the later part of the live-action version.

Perhaps it’s the commercial movies “practice” or something, but if u look from a different point of view, a twist in the story will provide manga readers (and possibly anime watchers) something different. If not, reading the manga + watching the anime would be sufficient isn’t it? There wont be a need to watch the live-action version, which of course defeats the purpose of filming one in the first place. However, i still recommend people to read the manga/watch the anime for Death Note as i think the main characters are more well-developed (commenting based on my anime experience which so far have been following the manga closely).

With so much said, i’m actually looking forward to watching the 2nd part, which by then i *should* have watched about 1/3 of the anime. Perhaps the anime will just finish covering where movie part 1 ended. lol.

p.s. phase 3 has begun. (but still got 14 work days left -__-)

NDCU Top 10 Combo Monthly - Sept Edition

Yeah, u read that right. September Edition. Well, given the kind of edit that was done, it’s no surprise that it took such a while to produce this work. The combos are seriously just crazy. Though I know not all are done humanly, meaning that tools were used in assisting them or tools were used to “programme” the moves. Oh well, after all it’s for SHOW, who would really care so much right?

Well then, some preview pics:

Quite nicely made pictures right? Editing wise required a lot of hard work though some people will just complain why it takes a long duration of 6m32s to showcase merely TEN combos. Not to mention its filesize is 81.8mb. Now here is the link. Requires Real Player or alternvative player(s) to view.

Let’s see when October edition will be out. Heh.
